Christus resurrexit! Vere resurrexit! Christ is risen, He is risen indeed!
This traditional Easter Greeting in Latin is a reminder that today we truly celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord. This weekend we begin a new homily series called Redemption. St. John Paul II wrote, “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our hymn of praise.” We celebrate because we have been redeemed by Christ’s cross and glorious resurrection. But what is redemption? Do we live joyfully with hope of new life in Christ? Do we love and share the faith with others?
This series explores redemption, how to live it joyfully in our own life and how to share it with others. The meaning of redemption in the Catholic Faith is the act by which Jesus saved us from the slavery of sin, this act is his sacrificial death on the cross. Redemption involves going from one state to another. It is Christ liberating us from an old life of sin to freedom of a new life in him.
Easter Blessings and you are welcome here,
Fr. Charlie
